Mystrade writing prompt

take-a-break-kalina:

for a Romeo and Juliet – AU:

Mycroft has a date in a posh whisky bar that Anthea has arranged for him because she thinks he needs to meet somebody and this man/woman in particular seems to fits perfectly to the hard-working government official.
Greg Lestrade has just signed his divorce papers and his friends drag him to that new bar to cheer him up. He gets drunk to bear the evening when his eyes meet Mycroft’s across the bar. He takes the opportunity, flirts blatantly and they end up kissing in the elevator.
Greg’s friends are not too hapy about it because “he’s a guy!”.

Someone please write this!

Mystrade: “Goldfish, eh?” (Greg finds out that’s how Mycroft describes ‘people’?)

odamakilock:

“Goldfish, eh?” Greg frowns. “I used to have goldfish. They’re not that bad.”

“Not renowned for their intellect.”

“That’s not why you keep a goldfish, though,” Greg argues. “The point of goldfish is they’re easy to have around. Last ages too, if you look after them right. It’s a bit of company.”

“Well, there’s that I suppose.”

“You’d be lost without your goldfish.”

“Hmm,” Mycroft says, pretending to be interested in the ceiling above the bed. “I suppose I can think of one that’s quite tolerable company.”
