The headfanon that Greg was kind of a fun-loving fuck-up in his youth really enriches the character for me because he literally can’t be mad at Sherlock. Even though Holmes is a royal pain in the ass, Greg sort of low-key admires the art of his assholery and often has to resist the urge to grin in a “Damn the Man” kind of way…
…until a few minutes later when he realizes that he, actually, IS the man, now, and the thought bums him out, so he listens to The Clash at full volume, all the way home, which makes him feel much, much better.
